    • A: Online courses offer convenience and flexibility for you to learn on your own time. Taught by the same world-class faculty and industry leaders, you’ll receive the same degree as a student who attends classes on campus. The online format promotes engaged learning and facilitates connection with fellow students from all over the world providing a rich educational environment and networking opportunities. Like an on-campus degree, the University of Oklahoma’s online programs are accredited and recognized by employers.

  • Q: What kind of student support do you offer?
    • A: Online students receive the same access to resources that on-campus students do. Many of our students have been out of school for a few years or have never experienced online learning; this is why we have a student success team available throughout the program. Our Student Success team provides training on technology and tips to prepare you to be a successful online student. We want students to focus on academics, so we enroll you in all your courses and provide assistance with any administrative items you might need throughout the program.

  • Q: How much does this degree cost?
    • A:Tuition for the Executive MBA in Energy program is $85,000 which includes:
      • All tuition and fees
      • Course materials
      • All required technology, including a Surface tablet
      • Lodging and most meals during residency weeks. Students are responsible for the expenses required to travel to the residency sites.

    • A: The EMBA’s applicability to the energy industry makes it an excellent way for companies to invest in their leadership. Your company might consider providing full or partial support for the cost of this MBA.     • A: The Executive MBA in Energy is a unique program for mid-career Energy industry professionals that combines industry knowledge and management principles with the core requirements of an MBA. The curriculum ensures graduates have a broad understanding of key functional disciplines in business as well as of the compatibility of emerging energy technologies with conventional resources and infrastructure.

      Most students of the EMBA in Energy program are looking to advance in their careers and upon graduation may move into roles such as Director of Operations, Business Analyst, Director of Business Development, Director of Strategic Growth, Director of International Business Operations, Vice President/Senior Vice President roles, or other C-suite positions, among others.


  • Q: Is the degree 100% online?
    • A: The Executive MBA in Energy is a hybrid program consisting of six online modules and three in-person residencies. The residencies consist of two weeks spent on the OU campus and an international perspective on the energy industry in Europe.

  • Q: Do online classes meet at certain times?
    • A: Yes. Students are expected to participate in live class sessions a few times a week which are typically held at 7 PM CT during the week and on the occasional Saturday morning.

  • Q: Are instructors trained to teach online?
    • A: Yes! All the professors of the EMBA in Energy program have online teaching experience and are prepared to engage with students in this format.

  • Q: How long will the program take to complete?
    • A: The 36-credit hour program is offered primarily online and is designed to be completed in 15 months. It consists of six online modules and three in-person residencies. The residencies consist of two weeks spent on the OU campus and an international perspective on the energy industry in Europe.

  • Q: What are the required prerequisites for this program?
    • A: The EMBA in Energy program is highly selective. We evaluate applicants based on their professional experience, their potential to make rich contributions to the learning experiences of others and their academic suitability for graduate study.

      To be considered for admission to the EMBA in Energy program, applicants should have:

      • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
      • At least eight years of total work experience*
        • Including a minimum of three years of significant experience in the management of people, projects, or business units.
      • A minimum of two years of work experience in the energy industry related to selected specialization (Hydrocarbons or Renewables).
      • Preference for active employment with a renewable energy company, energy-related company, or energy-related work within a company.

  • Q: What are the admission requirements?
    • A: The EMBA in Energy program is highly selective. We evaluate applicants based on their professional experience, their potential to make rich contributions to the learning experiences of others and their academic suitability for graduate study. A GMAT or GRE score is not required, however, to be considered for admission to the EMBA in Energy, applicants should have:

      • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
      • At least eight years of total work experience*
        • Including a minimum of three years of significant experience in the management of people, projects, or business units.
      • A minimum of two years of work experience in the energy industry related to selected specialization (Hydrocarbons or Renewables).
      • Preference for active employment with a renewable energy company, energy-related company, or energy-related work within a company.
    • As part of the admissions process, applicants will be asked to submit:
      • Resume
      • Letter of Corporate Support – Acknowledging your application to the program from your immediate supervisor/manager or higher in your organization (on corporate letterhead).
      • Personal Statement –To help the admissions committee gain a better understanding of you, your professional accomplishments to date, and your career aspirations.
      • International students may be asked to submit either a TOEFL or an IELTS score.
    *We will consider exceptional students with fewer than eight years of work experience if they can demonstrate a high level of responsibility and achievement.
  • Q: Once I’ve applied, what happens next?
    • A: Once the application is submitted, an enrollment coach will reach out and work with the applicant to gather all required documents. After all required documents have been received the application will be sent for evaluation and qualified candidates will be invited for a Zoom interview with the Program Director. An admission decision will typically be rendered one to two weeks after the interview.

  • Q: When do classes start?
    • A: There are two starts per year for the Executive MBA in Energy program: Spring (January) and Fall (August)
