Financial Assistance

Full-time MIS doctoral candidates will receive stipends to serve as teaching assistants, instructors and research assistants: A teaching assistant assists a faculty member with a course but does not hold course responsibility. This assistance can involve proctoring, grading and lecturing. Teaching assistants would be expected to participate in the University's instructional development program. An instructor has full responsibility for a course. Normally, it would be expected that MIS doctoral candidates would serve as an instructor for eight courses during their four years in residency. A research assistant collaborates with a faculty member as a research colleague on a research project.


It is expected that MIS doctoral candidates would carry out their half-time (20 hours per week) assistantship responsibilities in a manner similar to the following:
