Two guiding principles underlie our degree and research programs:
Effective MIS work requires: a sound foundation of business and management knowledge. For example, designing, building, and implementing information systems, which add value, requires project team members that understand business strategy, industry structures, and organizational behavior as well as relevant functional, (i.e., accounting, finance, marketing, production/operations, etc), knowledge.
Effective MIS work requires: a strong understanding of programming, database use and design, and systems analysis/design. This is achieved through a working knowledge of information technologies combined with hands-on experience applying these technical skills to problems in actual organizations.
