MANAGEMENT

The goal of the Division of Management is to train students to make strategic contributions to organizations through critical thinking and mastery of fundamental concepts. Also, the practical work experience of our faculty is a dynamic strength in our department, lending itself to an application oriented, integrative core approach to the classroom.

Our faculty are active in research and have publications in leading academic and practitioner-oriented journals in the areas of Organizational Behavior, Human Resources Management, Entrepreneurship, International Business and Strategy and Production Operations Management. Many faculty have been recognized through national awards as outstanding lecturers and researchers.

We are dedicated to providing our students with the insight necessary to successfully manage in an organization.

Hands-On opportunity

"Starting a business is not just about opening a garage door and selling a product," said Shelly Grunsted, clinical lecturer of legal studies and director of the IBC program. "What we want to do, essentially, is model a company from scratch for 16 weeks. What I think this gives our students is a true perspective - a small taste - of what it's like to start a business. They've learned in the classroom about the legal side of business, how to market products and how to manage a company. This lets them go beyond the classroom; it lets them actually experience it."
